Devils Gift
I don’t want an apology | All of your words mean shit to me
Don’t want to hear a damned excuse | Just keep the fuck away from me
What do you do when, as a performer, you toured with Aerosmith, Mötley Crue and Kansas, have had albums produced by Steve Thompson (Guns’n’Roses, Metallica, Korn) but still want more? If you’re Lennon Murphy, you get together with renowned Metal producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, God Forbid) and write one hell of a Metal album…
Lennon (Lennon Murphy) is very active in the American music-scene. Born in New York and raised in Nashville, she signed her first major recording contract at the young age of 17, with her debut album, the Steve Thompson produced “5:30 Saturday Morning” released by Arista Records on 9/11/2001. Since then she has gone on to record a variety of music - rock, acoustic, piano - and now, with Devils Gift, a bona fide Metal abum.
“I wanted to make a Metal album” states Lennon simply. “I wanted Devils Gift to be a separate entity from Lennon - a band - with 5 people working towards the same thing, not just Lennon with some backing musicians.”
Acquainted with Jason Suecof on the local scene, and having wanted to make a heavier record for a long time, Lennon decided to reach out to the famed producer with the idea of collaboration. With no idea what the songs would sound like, they locked themselves in the studio and just let the songs form. The end result is 13 tracks of ferocious yet melodic metal, venting the frustration
