Norwegian cult extreme metallers KEEP OF KALESSIN are currently in pre-production mode for the band's new album, which is set to be released early 2010. The group is planning to enter an at the moment unannounced Swedish studio in about a month to begin laying down the drums before returning to their own studio in Norway to record the rest of the instruments.
A video report from the pre-production sessions for the follow up to 2008’s successfull „Kolossus“ can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Icg_aSrrPn8
After having multiple chart entries all over Europe with their latest album “Love And Other Disasters” Sonic Syndicate directly attacked the world supporting NIGHTWISH on their US tour, IN FLAMES throughout Europe followed by a co-headlining tour with Swedish fellas and labelmates DEATHSTARS and more. After an intense year of touring the band received news that singer Roland Johansson is calling it quits in late April.
Without delay, the band and management contacted Bandit Rock Radio “Stockholm” to announce the news and team up for what has become something more then they could ever have hoped for. A diamond in the rough, a soul mate, a kick ass fucking singer that has so much hunger and talent to take the band to places they could never reach before.
Thousands of submissions, countless auditions, hours of horror and an amazing partnership with Bandit Rock, Sonic Syndicate would like to introduce to you their new singer, Mr Nathan J Biggs (Born 1986. Shrewsbury, UK).
Sonic Syndicate commented:
“The search is over and the band is complete once again! Nathan is probably the best thing that ever happened to Sonic Syndicate since the discovery of distorted guitars and the work we´ve done together is by far the best we´ve achieved to date! He´s like the long lost brother we never had and has also fused the rest of us together more closely than before. The rebellion has begun!” – Sonic Syndicate
“Something incredible and totally unpredictable has happened here! Not only have I managed to land myself in one the most promising bands in the world, I've gained a new family too. The energy between Sonic and I is electric and its producing some breath taking results. We're taking it to the next level – Don't blink or you'll be running to catch up with us!” – Nathan J. Biggs
Bandit Radio Sweden said this about the brand new single:
“Can modern metal get too hooky? Listen to “Burn This City” and the obvious answer is no. Sonic Syncidate fused by new singer Nathan J Biggs will take the band onto another plain, up an extra notch on the metal ladder. “Burn This City” is their best work yet. A true metal smash!” Mattias Arwidson, Bandit Rock
The band will be releasing a new EP called “Rebellion”, which contains two brand new songs (“Burn This City”, “Rebellion In Nightmareland”) featuring Nathan, on November 6th this year, which comes together with the latest album “Love And Other Disasters” as a all-in-one-package. The cover artwork to “Rebellion” will be done by Gustavo Savez of Abstrata art.
SONIC SYNDICATE is planning to hit the road this fall so get ready, the rebellion has begun!
A new album is due in April / May 2010, so stay tuned!

Fei Comodo Prepare for Mammoth Tour
Best British Newcomer Nomination at Kerrang! Awards
Having spent the best part of 12 months gigging solidly up and down the UK alongside acts such as Parkway Drive, Enter Shikari, Devil Sold His Soul, Fightstar and InMe, FEI COMODO have become a firm favourite on the UK scene. Their hard work has paid off, securing them a nomination at this year’s Kerrang! Awards for Best British Newcomer. Although they did not win, the band had a great time at the awards. Bassist Jay Styler comments:
“I think we made the whole night even COOLER by showing up on the red carpet with our sick-as-hell £9.99 scooters from Argos, just a shame there wasn't a Best Entrance Award! As for the nomination for Best British Newcomer, we were all dead-chuffed! It would have been awesome to win, but just being there, amongst all the wicked bands and all that freakin' free beer it was amazing for us. It was an absolute HONOUR to be nominated & to be able to attend the whole event. If we don't end up going next year, I'm breaking in for sure, it's literally unmissable!”
The band are also preparing to embark on a mammoth tour of the UK, opting to stay off the beaten track and into those hard to reach places this time around:
“We're ridiculously excited about this particular tour because we get to play a load of places we've never been to before and at the same time bust out some new tunes!” says the band. “This will be our first tour since Download Festival so it's safe to say we're extremely hungry to play live and tear these places up!! We've dubbed it, “The are you Local?! Tour” as a tribute to The Legue of Gentleman, because we're positive we'll meet some strange characters while playing some of these more off beat towns!”

TED MAUL & THE DEFILED ANNOUNCE UK TOUR
London drum’n’bass anti-life metallers TED MAUL and noisy neighbours THE DEFILED have announced a UK tour in October. Show closers TED MAUL cryptically stated:
“We have been locked in our laboratory injecting each other with new strains of swine flu preparing for this tour, we’re gonna pump you all full of negative rhythmics”
THE DEFILED sound a little worried:
“I must admit it’s with slight trepidation that we are announcing Ted Maul and The Defiled on one touring bill together!” states bassplayer Drex “From both our track records I’m not sure if either band is going to come out the other side without a fair few casualties. So lock up you daughters (and your medicine cabinets) … however the tour finishes it’s gonna be brutal!”

SONATA ARCTICA – Pick winner of artwork contest
The SONATA ARCTICA artwork contest has come to an end and the band have picked their personal favorites!
The WINNING piece will be the new artwork for the SONATA ARCTICA promotion single to “Flag In The Ground” and was done by SIMO HEIKKINEN (Finland)!
2nd winner: Artwork done by Dilyana Delcheva (Bulgaria)
3rd winner: Artwork done by Rodrigo Larreteguy (Argentina)
Commented singer TONY KAKKO:
“On behalf of the whole Sonata Arctica, I would like to thank all of you, who sent artwork suggestions for our promotional single “Flag In The Ground”! Fantastic!
The range of different ideas and styles was staggering and our decision was far from easy. I think at the end we all had our own personal favorites!
But there can be only one! In this case one winner, one 2nd and one 3rd.
So we actually had to build an extremely complex voting system to come up with the winner and even then it was not all that easy.
And honestly, I think you are all winners, and you should think so too. You worked hard to complete the artwork in extremely limited time frame.
And you did it. Ovations.
As I am writing this message, I still only have the artwork jpg's with different names and no idea who is behind which work.
Just so you will know; if the winner happens to be my mother, it is simply because her work was THE BEST!
Without any drum rolls, behold! The mighty winner! The best of the best of the best!
Thank you people!
See you on tour!”
~Tony – Sonata Arctica
The single “Flag In The Ground“ will have its premiere on the band´s MySpace page on September 4th! Do not miss!
The new album “The Days Of Grays” will be out on September 21st via Nuclear Blast!

BAD TO THE BONE…
SPINEFARM RECORDS UK TO RELEASE DEBUT LABEL SAMPLER ON SEPTEMBER 7th 2009 AS HMV EXCLUSIVE
SPINEFARM RECORDS UK, which brought the Spinefarm brand to the UK from Finland in the Autumn of 2007, has now confirmed the release of its first ever label sampler.
An HMV exclusive, this specially-priced 2-CD set features 31 acts and over two hours of music, all of it heavy on both attitude and riffs. In addition to bands such as Nightwish and Children Of Bodom, bands who have been key to the growth of Spinefarm over the past decade, the sampler features a number of acts who have a more recent relationship with the company, the likes of fast-rising US heavyweights Five Finger Death Punch, Japanese visual-rockers D’espairsray, British Black Metallers Blutvial & Swedish melodic rockers Dead By April, who have enjoyed a No. 1 single and No. 2 album in their native land.
Given the history of Spinefarm, which started in Helsinki back in 1992, a label dedicated to developing the darker, more dramatic side of Finnish music, it’s only natural that the majority of the artists here have had a part to play in the development of that country’s rock scene; amongst the most influential are Ensiferum (dark heroic metal), Sonata Arctica (pumped-up power metal), Moonsorrow (grandiose, panoramic anthems), Finntroll (rabble-rousin’ folk metal), Swallow The Sun (death/doom atmospherics) and Reverend Bizarre (expansive doom of the purest kind).
Featuring guest vocalists (Doro Pesch and Nightwish’s Marco Hietala & Anette Olzon), guest musicians (i.e. COB’s Alexi Laiho, who provides the solo on “Black Cat”) plus three well chosen covers (Judas Priest’s “Deceiver”, performed by Reverend Bizarre, the aforementioned “Black Cat”, written and recorded by Janet Jackson and performed here by Warmen, and Whitesnake’s “Sailing Ships”, performed by Kiuas), ‘Bone Shakers’ comprises the following tracks:-
1. Children Of Bodom – “Smile Pretty For The Devil”
2. Five Finger Death Punch – “Ashes”
3. Ensiferum – “Deathbringer From The Sky”
4. Celesty – “Lord (Of This Kingdom)”
5. Kalmah – “Like A Slave”
6. Israthoum – “The Slanderer”
7. Deathlike Silence – “And You Cry”
8. D’espairsray – “Redeemer”
9. Entwine – “Caught By Desire”
10. Tarja – “The Seer”
11. Dead By April – “Losing You”
12. Amoral – “Year Of The Suckerpunch”
13. Tarot – “Follow The Blind”
14. PAIN – “Monkey Business”
15. Backyard Babies – “Degenerated”
16. Elias Viljanen – “Last Breath Of Love”
17. Blutvial – “Serpent Procreation”
18. Solstafir – “Love Is The Devil (And I Am In Love)”
1. Nightwish – “Sacrament Of Wilderness”
2. Moonsorrow – “Unohduksen Lapsi”
3. Sonata Arctica – “My Land”
4. Warmen – “Black Cat”
5. For My Pain – “Dear Carniwhore”
